![]() ![]() ![]() Although supplemented by semi- and fully automatic rifles during World War II, it remained the primary German service rifle until the end of World War II in 1945. It was one of the final developments in the long line of Mauser military rifles. The Karabiner 98 Kurz (often abbreviated Kar98k, K98, or K98k) was a bolt action rifle chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge that was adopted as the standard service rifle in 1935 by the German Wehrmacht. For the Mauser 98k rifles produced by Mauser-Werke, Obemdorf on the Neckar – they were designated with the German Army ordnance codes, this rifle in particular, "42" and produced in 1939 as stamped on top of the receiver. The MAUSER brand has stood as a symbol for the real, successful hunting experience for over 140 years. In an effort to hide the manufacturer, the German Army required manufacturers to mark their equipment with codes rather than brand names. The bore appears to have some pitting & wear but is in good condition for a rifle used as heavily as a Kar 98k. This rifle is in fantastic condition and all serials match.
